Robert L. "Bob" Ludwig, 81, of Bothell, WA, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. He was born November 26, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of the late Leslie and Leilah (Tengberg) Ludwig. Bob married Betty Lou Toth on February 18, 1961 at St. Brendan Catholic Church, Bothell. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2010. After graduating from Sunnyside High School, Bob graduated with both a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Music from Washington State University. Bob was a band director in the Northshore School District for 30 years having begun his teaching career at the Anderson School in Bothell. He then moved to Canyon Park Junior High School where he built an exemplary band program. After retirement, he continued to serve the band programs of the district for another 18 years in numerous capacities.
An accomplished musician, Bob also played trombone for many years with the Cascade Symphony, "The Tempo's" Big Band and numerous community theater pit orchestras. As a result of his distinguished teaching career, Bob was honored with being a member of the Washington Music Educators Association's inaugural Hall of Fame induction class in 1988. He was also a lifetime member of the National Band Association. Bob took no greater pride than in his years of service and profound musical influence to the thousands of students he had the privilege of teaching.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Janie McDavid, son-in-law Brad, and his only grandson, Skylar, which was his pride and joy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21st, at 3PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 19215 88th Ave. NE, Bothell, 98011. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the WMEA "Young Musicians Excelling" program at WMEA.org.
