March 22, 1941 – April 26, 2024
Obituary of Robert "Bob" William Benish
IN THE CARE OF

Acacia Memorial Park & Funeral Home

Robert (Bob) W. Benish, OD

On Thursday, April 26th, 2024 Robert W. Benish, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away at the age of 83.

Bob was born in Mitchell, SD to Fred and Inez Benish. Following Fred’s death, Inez married Carl Kittelson who raised Bob as his own. Bob retired as in optometrist in Fredericksburg, VA then moved to Lake Forest Park, WA to enjoy his retirement. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge both in Fredericksburg and Washington.

Bob loved feeding and watching the squirrels and hummingbirds on his deck. They provided him with many hours of entertainment. His love of cribbage came from his mother. He was always up for another game, “penny a point” he would say. Never collecting as he usually won. He was an avid music lover, especially music from the 50’s and 60’s. His love of movies was proven by a daily pick to watch. He was known for his wit, knowledge of most things and his love for his family.

Bob was preceded in death by his biological father, Fred, his mother Inez and step father ”Dad” Carl. He is survived by his wife Marian, and his children. William C. Benish (Robyn Puffenbarger), Michael R. Dudding (Melissa), Billie B, Dove (Gary), Robert E. Despain and Ronald W. Despain. His grandchildren Samantha L. Davis, Jacob C. Davis, Emma M. Dudding and Matthew H. Dudding, great granddaughter Leah R. Smith. The family will have a private ceremony to celebrate the life of this amazing man.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to your favorite charity in his name.
