Rita Abanto MANIO Born May 22, 1911 in Pagsanjan, Laguna, Philippines, Rita passed away on August 8, 2003 surrounded by family. She married beloved husband Benjamin E. Manio, Sr. in 1934 who preceded her in death in December 1988. Rita raised her family in Manila and in 1968 moved to Seattle with her husband to join their children. Rita is survived by her eight children and their spouses Azucena and Dr. Epitacio Sison, Danilo and Elenita Manio, Erlinda and Francisco de Asis, Antonio and Miriam Manio, Benjamin Jr. and Salve Manio, Reynaldo and Roslyn Manio, Jaime and Liza Manio, Benerita and Victor dela Merced, her adopted son Rolando Intal, 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother was her greatest joy and a job in which she excelled at. Her family's fondest memories were of gatherings at her home on Queen Anne. Rita lived a life full of love, laughter, and giving -- known to open her home in Manila to neighbors and friends who were in need. Her comforting touch, loving smile, and unique sense of humor will be greatly missed. Viewing begins Tuesday, August 12 at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, Seattle. Rosary/Vigil at Evergreen-Washelli on Friday, August 15 at 7 p.m. Celebration of Life Mass to be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Seattle on Saturday, August 16 call Evergreen-Washelli for schedule. Interment will follow at Holyrood Cemetery, Shoreline, Washington.
