It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Wanser, who left us on Tuesday, August 27th surrounded by family after a year and a half battle with lung cancer at the age of 73. Richard Wanser was born on October 17th, 1950 in Seattle, Wa to Harold and Violet Wanser. He was a lifetime Seattleite, who loved his neighborhood, his view of the space needle and seaplanes taking off from lake union.
Richard Wanser was a dedicated purchasing agent and salesman, known for his congeniality, honesty and strong work ethic. Richard Wanser had a deep passion for vintage cars, gardening, cooking and hosting dinners for friends and family. His gardening was award winning and his indoor plant collection was a beauty to behold. He was an avid clock collector, wine maker, and enjoyed all things of good quality and elegance. Most of all he loved sharing his gifts with others through acts of generosity and love.
He is survived by the love of his life, husband Stephen Sandoval, his dear sister Diane Close, his four nieces Chrystal Lauder, Connie Dickinson, Casey Baldner, Carina Close and six great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents and grandparents, and many friends who passed too young.
Richard Wanser was an avid reader and loved making quirky puns to brighten peoples' day. His Scottish humor was his way to be playful, and bring levity to any moment. He was known to tell wonderful stories to friends, family, and neighbors. He always offered assistance generously to his neighbors at Melrose Terraces taking pride in all his relationships and accomplishments.
Richard Wanser will have an interment ceremony on Saturday September 14th at 11am, and a Memorial service on Sunday September 15th at 1pm, at the Evergreen Washelli funeral home and cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join us in celebrating Richard Wanser’s life.
Richard Wanser will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of cherishing family, generosity, kindness, and honesty.
Rest in peace, Richard Wanser, you will always be remembered and loved.
