Renee Annette Crotty passed away on August 7th, 2021 at the age of 49. She was born at Seattle Group Health Hospital to E. Patrick Crotty and Virgina Crotty on May 30th, 1972. Renee felt at home in the PNW and lived in Washington throughout her life. She was born and raised in Burien.
Renee centered her life around her family, as well as her faith. She made her first communion at age 8 on June 23rd, 1980 at St. Francis of Assisi, and she was confirmed on May 13th, 1990. She was an altar server at St. Francis and also was a member of Marian Girls.
Renee graduated High school from John F. Kennedy on June 4th, 1990 where she played soccer and ran track. After graduation, she moved to Normandy Park. She bought her first home at 19 years of age in SeaTac, where she raised her three children. In 2014, she bought a townhouse in Normandy Park, where she lived until her passing.
Renee is a beloved mother to three children; Zackary Patrick (27), Samantha Kieran (23), and Joshua Aidan (20). She wholeheartedly devoted herself to caring for and loving every child who smiled her way. Renee is survived by her children, parents, and siblings: Sharon Thompson, Kelly Booker, Rich Crotty, Maryjo Green, Michelle Hauck, Colleen Stephens, and Mary Eide.
Renee worked at US Bank and Safeway for many years. She was a professional cake and wedding cake decorator while at Safeway. Throughout her life, she made the most amazing cakes for weddings, birthdays, bridal showers: if you name a celebration, she probably made a cake for it. She became a stay-at-home mom to care for her children and began to care for many others. She became a full- time nanny and caregiver to over 15 children over the span of 20 years. We have estimated that Renee has potty trained roughly ten children, not including her own, always with patience and a sense of humor.
After her long fight with cancer, with the assistance of the wonderful medical staff at UW Medical Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Renee transitioned into end-of-life hospice care at her parent’s home. During this time, friends and family were able to visit and show her again how much she is loved. She passed in her parents home in Burien, WA, surrounded by her parents and older sister, Kelly.
Renee has made an unforgettable mark on this world, and we are all better for it.
