After a long battle with cancer, Ray passed away peacefully at his home in Monroe, WA, on January 21, 2007, surrounded by his family. He was born in Price, Utah, September 25, 1942 to J. Benson and Mildred Marshall Egan.
He served an LDS mission to Japan from 1962-1964. He married Kathy Thorpe, May 28, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He received his bachelor's degree from BYU, and his
Master's degree from Purdue. He worked for Eastman Kodak in
Rochester, NY; Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, MO; Weyerhaeuser and
Safeco in Seattle, WA; and for Pattco in Louisville, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Johnnie. He is survived by his wife Kathy, four daughters, Wendy Dave Hansen of Woodinville, WA; Angela Glenn Christensen of Lindon, UT; Kammy Graham Thompson of Monroe, WA; Lara Chris Carlin of San Clemente, CA; two sons, Bryan of Seattle, WA; and Scott at BYU in Provo, UT; 13 grandchildren; two brothers Robert M. Egan of
Capetown, So.Africa; Richard M. Egan of Bountiful, UT; and sister, Joyce
Wold of Mesa, AZ.
Ray was a faithful and devoted member of the LDS
Church. He lived his life as a perfect example of his faith, and radiated the Savior?s love. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. Being with his family was his greatest joy. His cheerfulness and optimism throughout his life had a profound impact on the lives of his family and friends. He was loved by everyone that knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at the LDS Stake Center at 16500 124th AVE NE, Woodinville, WA, 98072. Interment at Provo Cemetery, Provo, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
