Penelope “Penny” Anne Williams, passed away on January 17, 2012 at Swedish Medical Center of Edmonds. She was born on February 24, 1942 in Pasadena California, the daughter of Bernly “Del” and Winnie (Rucker) Delmage. She was a resident of the Ballard area for 27 years and of Edmonds for the past 12 years. Penny met her husband, Donald Williams in 1961 at a Halloween party in Long Beach, California, where they danced. Donald asked Penny for her contact information and a date while he was in town, which she refused to provide. With much determination and the help of Penny’s sister, Pam, Donald won Penny’s heart. While serving for the Marine Corps, Donald and Penny wrote letters to each other. They were married nine months later on July 28th, 1962. They honeymooned in Seattle during the World Fair to visit Donald’s family. The Seattle weather was beautiful and sunny during their stay. After a year of marriage, Donald convinced Penny to move from California to Seattle. They waited four years after being married to have the first of two children, Mike. Donald and Penny desperately tried to have another child two years after Mike, however, they were not successful until four years later, and were blessed with a daughter, Lisa. Penny enjoyed her family time which usually involved camping, Girl Scouts, traveling all over the United States and abroad. She prized her ’39 Deluxe Chevy 2 door Coupe which she proudly displayed at many car shows identifiable by the name of her car "Penelope", which she had custom painted on both sides under the pin striping behind the doors, in matching color, of course! Her father, a Bohemian Artist and Art Director for the Government, passed on his artistic talents to Penny. She enjoyed sketching, reading, medical television shows, word search puzzles, and handling home repairs. Despite her chronic health problems, she never complained and always had a smile on her face. Her smile and great sense of humor always lit up any room she entertained. A wonderful, loving girlfriend, secretary, best friend, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind. She is preceded in death by her parents, Del and Winnie; and brother, Robert. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Donald; son, Mike Williams; daughter, Lisa Williams; sister, Pam Adams, grandsons, Ryan and Devin DeWeese; granddaughter, Kayla DeWeese; daughter-in-law, Nina Williams; faithful dog companion, Yo-Yo; and many loving extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Friday, February 3, 2012, at Acacia Funeral Home 14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle, WA. 98155.
