Nita (Wagar) White, age 56, was born March 6, 1955 and passed away on January 18, 2012 at her home in Seattle, Washington. Born in Slayton, Minnesota to Cecil and Helena Wagar, Nita moved with her family to Yakima in 1959. Nita attended grade school in Yakima and graduated from the Washington State School for the Blind. She attended North Seattle Community College. She was employed by the Lighthouse for the Blind for 28 years. In 1992, Nita was named the "Worker of the Year" for Washington state. Nita was fluent in American Sign Language and was a Braille translator. She used her many skills to assist and encourage her co-workers at the Lighthouse. She loved knitting, crocheting, shopping on the QVC Shopping Network, and going on the computer. She was a faithful caregiver to her husband, Sam,for thirty four years whom she married on May 28,1977. Nita loved her family especially her twelve nephews and niece. Nita was preceded in death by her nephew Jared Wagar, Sister-in-law Ann White,Father-in-law Richard and Mother-in-law Katherine White. Nita is survived by her husband Sam, parents, Cecil and Helena, brothers Bob (Bonnie), Ken (Carol), Larry (Debbie), Gary (Rhonda) and Wes (Darlene). Sister-in-laws Sarah, Chris(Craig),Meg(Brad), Mary (Barney), and numerous nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. Nita was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends, including Bob Mitchell, Bea Shinnaberry and Debra Myer. Nita's memorial service will be held at the Lighthouse for the Blind in February.
