NILS T. HARAMOTO, 63, passed away February 22, 2003. He was born December 14, 1939 to Rupert and Hatsue Haramoto in Lahaina, Maui, HI. Nils moved with his family to Kailua in 1949 where he attended and played football for Roosevelt H.S. in Honolulu and graduated in 1957. Nils went on to study electronics and play football at Oregon Tech., and after graduation he worked for the Boeing Company in Seattle for 5 years. He spent 2 years on Johnston Island tracking missiles for Bendix Radio and in 1965 he married Sandra L. Boone in Seattle. He became a test technician at Honeywell Marine Research/Alliant Techsystems until he retired in 1996. Nils and Sandra raised four children, Patrick Jeannine, David, Diane and Shannon. He enjoyed taking time off from work to go on school fieldtrips with his children. Nils was a lifeguard and taught swimming. He met his wife while skiing and he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and traveling. He loved playing sports and watching others play. His passion was volleyball and golf. He belonged to the Puget Sound Nisei Golf Club and the Honeywell Golf League. Nils always kept his friends laughing with his satirical sense of humor. He was a volleyball player, referee and, in recent years, he helped coach the Shorewood High freshman girls? teams. Nils is survived by his four children, his wife, two grandchildren Cody Rose and Curtis, 3 nieces and nephews, and his brother Cary Vicki of Newark, N.Y. Memorial services will be Saturday, March 1, 2003 at 5pm and will be conducted at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Chapel, 11111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Puget Sound Kidney Center South.
