Michael will be laid to rest at the Memory Glen Section, Evergreen Washelli Cemetary in Seattle, Washington. A Celebration of Life will be held in Barrow, Alaska.
Michael was born in Seattle to Bert D. and Dorcas N. Maupin July 28, 1958 and grew up in the Magnolia District. He attended Lawton Elementary 1964-1970, Blaine Junior High School 1970-72, Queen Anne High School 1972-73, the Barrow High School 1973-74, and the Intermountain Indian High School 1974-76 where he graduated. Mike took courses in cooking and at a travel academy after high school.
Michael worked as a salesclerk for the Key Sports Arena and as a laborer at the Rabanco Recycling Facility. Mike was retired for the past 10 years.
Michael loved the Lord, and faithfully attended the Bethel Temple church at 2nd & Lenora as a child. He played the snare drum in the orchestra there. Music was his passion, and he was a big fan of the Beatles, Paul McCartney, and other British bands.
Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Howard Maupin and Dorothy Klahn, maternal grandparents Jean Segvan and Jeanette Misaniq Numnik, and his nephew Pete Eben Hopson II.
Michael is survived by his parents Bert D. Maupin and Dorcas N. Maupin, brother Jeffrey Maupin, sisters Miriam Aiken and Amy Maupin, nieces Lillian Maupin, Dorcas Maupin, Roseann Maupin, and nephew Scott Aiken.
Michael had many relatives in Barrow, Port Angeles, Seattle and Vancouver, and the East Coast.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeffrey Maupin, Reuben Aiken, Florentino ‘Tony’ Cabais, James Goodman, John Goodman, Timeen Sullivan, Raymond Lagucik, and Jim Lagucik.
