Mike had a very active lifestyle and continued to do the things he loved to the end. He was always working on clever projects around the house and he knew how to fix everything. He instilled in his two sons, Jeffrey and Andrew, many great values and a sense of wonder about nature and the universe, and always encouraged them to do their best, strive to improve, and celebrated their accomplishments. He taught them to figure out how things work in order to fix them, and passed on his passion for cars, motorcycles, airplanes, trains, boats, hiking, camping, shooting, and his taste in music and movies. He knew a little bit about everything and was one of those people who could strike up a conversation with anyone about any topic and have actual insights and a definite opinion while at the same time keep a humorous attitude and be laughing with them. He was so funny and every time he visited with friends and family we would sit around the table long after dinner and just be telling stories and cracking up. He was inseparable from his loving wife Patty for 47 years of marriage, and they went on many adventures together, exploring fascinating places in Washington, beaches in Hawaii and Mexico, and numerous family road trips across the West. He served in the US Army from 1971-’73 and was stationed in Germany, taking the opportunity while on leave to explore all over Europe. He spent most of his career repairing outboard motors, running his own business, and made many friends across Western Washington eager to tap into his wealth of knowledge. Most recently he found great joy in becoming a grandfather and spending time with his grandson Jack. We will always treasure the memories we made with Mike.
