Mattie Leola Connally Arrington was born on May 10, 1942, in Frisco, Texas. She departed this life on November 23, 2022, in Seattle, Washington. She was the fifth child of eight children born to Montcue and Maxine Ruffin Connally.
A few years after graduating from Cleveland High School, Mattie married Jimmie Lee Arrington of Clarksdale, Mississippi, on March 25, 1961, and to this union five children were born.
Mattie worked for Seattle City Light in the early 1960s, but in 1969 she and her husband were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. Mattie’s new role as a minister’s wife, praise and worship singer, and organist, helped her support her husband in his position as licensed and ordained minister and pastor. They served their congregation for over 25 years under Church of God, Church of God in Christ Congregational, and Church of Grace in God organizations. As her children grew older, she decided to return to the workforce and was employed at Snohomish PUD and later at Premera Blue Cross, working in telecommunications as an Instructor.
Mattie’s most important role was that of a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, supporting her family in any way that she could. Mattie enjoyed reading her bible daily, baking, canning, riding to Ocean Shores, playing online Pogo games, and antique shopping.
Mattie is preceded in death by both parents, Montcue and Maxine Ruffin Connally; husband Jimmie L. Arrington; brother, Montcue (MC) Connally, Jr., sisters Mary M. Connally Heck and Martha R. Connally Ybarra; and son Tracy Arrington.
Mattie has left to cherish her memory, her siblings Tommie L Connally (Thelma deceased), John C. Connally, Dovie M. Connally, and Vernon R. Connally (Jan); her children Andrea Arrington, Brigitte Arrington, Jimmie Arrington, Jr., and Mark Arrington. Also, her grandchildren Tony F. Jorgensen, II, Markus M. Arrington, Jucquinta M. Franklin Arrington; and great grandchildren Zaire A. Jorgensen and Tyann Franklin.
A funeral service for Mattie will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, 98133. Followed by a committal service at Abbey View Memorial Park, 3601 Alaska Rd., Brier, 98036.
Friends & Family are invited back to Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home for a repast in the Celebration Hall immediately following graveside.
