On the warm sunny morning of Wednesday, August 12, 2020, Mason Luke Frank of Seattle, WA was surrounded by his wife and children as he peacefully started his journey to be with our Creator. Mason was 88 years old.
Mason is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lynn Frank; children: Elaine Frank [Vernon Finley] of Polson, MT; Dean Frank of Seattle, WA; and Stephanie Frank [Kevin Doyle] of Seattle, WA; grandchildren: Jerome Finley, Olivia Finley, Elise Frank, Emilio Frank, Lincoln Doyle, and Sterling Doyle; siblings: Nelson Frank of Sitka, AK; Ira Frank [Maureen] of Auburn, WA; Mabel Norris of Marysville, WA; and Matthew Charles, Hydaburg, AK. He also left behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his son, Barry Frank, sister Darlene Carroll, his Nana and Chinnah, father David Frank, mother Linda Pitello, stepfather John Pitello, Uncle Floyd Frank, Aunties Mona Jackson and Clara Natkong, brother-in-law Henry Norris, sister-in-law Carole Seney, and nephews Marcus Frank and Mike McClinn.
Mason Luke Frank came into this world on May 15, 1932 to his parents David (Eagle, Frog) and Linda Frank (Raven, Thunderbird) of Hydaburg, Alaska. He was proud to be of the Haida Tribe of Southeast Alaska, and grew up in Hydaburg. He was raised by his Nana and Chinnah along with his siblings and cousin, all of whom grew up in a home heavily influence by their Nana where hard work and taking care of family was cornerstone. Mason was placed in Sheldon Jackson Boarding School when he was a young boy, then when he turned 18, he was drafted and honorably served on Active Duty in the United States Army at Fort Richardson in Alaska.
After completing his service in the Army, while working as a tour guide for Mount Edgecumbe in Alaska, Mason met his bride-to-be, Lynn. They later married on February 15, 1963 at the Theater on Mount Edgecumbe. Mason made their home in Sitka, eventually moving his family to Seattle, WA. Mason and Lynn made their family the focus of their lives. Mason made his career with the Boeing Company where he proudly worked on several airliners including the Stealth Bomber. He retired comfortably upon which he and his wife were able to travel more often to various locations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Mason was also known for being a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed hunting, hiking, sport fishing, beach combing, traveling, and reading.
Mostly importantly, Mason will be fondly remembered for his dedication and love for his family.
Chapel services will be held beginning at 1pm on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home in Seattle, WA. Grave side services with military honors to follow.
