Madeline was born in Waldo, British Columbia, Canada. At the age of 8, she moved to Seattle and became a U.S. Citizen. She was always proud of her Canadian and Dutch heritage. Madeline graduated from Franklin High School and worked over 40 years at Blake Moffat and Town Paper Company.
For over 25 years, she volunteered at Group Health Hospital. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband,Frank. Madeline is survived by her devoted companion, Richard Meyer, nephews Tim Verhoef (Erline), Dr. Douglas Verhoef (Margaret), Woody Haizlip (Suzanne), and "acquired" grandchildren: Paul, Steve, Mark, and David, and eleven great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Frank Barker; her parents, Tymen and Hendricka Verhoef; brothers Harry and Tom Verhoef.
The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers and Group Health Hospice for their excellent care.
