Lorraine Evelyn (Petersen) Enge, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 in her home of 54 years in Shoreline, King County, Washington, at the age of 90. She was born on December 30, 1924 in Port Orchard, Washington to Christina Petersen of Sweden and Rasmus Petersen of Denmark. Lorraine was raised on a large dairy farm in Port Orchard until she graduated from Kitsap High School in 1941. She had 5 brothers and 7 sisters (13 siblings) that made up her large family. She was raised with love, good guidance, and freedom, and learned an independent do-it-yourself attitude.
Her career, talents and interests spanned over 80 years including employment in a machining factory for the World War II effort, fashion sales, modeling, restaurant, teaching ballroom dancing, management, retail clerk and grocery store meat wrapping. Her talents were dancing, singing, acting, artistic drawings, athletics, track & field, acrobatics, interior decorating, raising her family, and she was a good listener and confidante to many people. She enjoyed gardening, animals/pets, music, feeding wild life, organizing everything, movies, shopping, archeology, science, reading, sharing and giving to others, including lending money to those in need and various charities.
Lorraine married Earl J. Spangler and had one daughter, Renee, born in 1953. She is survived by her daughter, Renee L. Spangler of Shoreline; her sisters Anna Reisch and Irene Strand of Port Orchard; Betty Ann Wick and Rosalie Sibley of Spokane and her brother Richard Silvernale of Port Orchard. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Beatrice Petersen, Margo Mandich, Alice Bol, and her brothers Edward Petersen, Bob Petersen, Georgie Petersen, and Johnny Petersen.
