My heart goes out to Lori’s family. She was a font of knowledge, dedication, empathy, and compassion. 
May she be crushed by cockatoo feathers when she reaches the rainbow bridge. Fly with friends, dear one.

Lori was a kind and dedicated person.  I appreciated her no nonsense - sense of humor and I admired and respected her.  I never met her in person,  but I cherished my conversations with her over the phone.  She was a contributor who offered many creatures, in need of peace and respect, a place to land.  It always warmed my heart to know that there was someone like Lori, on this planet. ...Sending my deepest condolences.  

I don’t really even know where to begin, I am still in shock and find the brain does not work well in that state of grief, I can’t imagine how her family and friends that knew her so much longer than I did feel. 
Lori was amazing in so many different ways, insanely smart, resourceful, always was laughing and one of her good friends me her nickname was giggles and I can definitely see that as fitting. 
She took me under her wing so to speak as I also have a Cockatoo rescue, mine is smaller and 2500 miles away from her but that never stopped her from taking the time to call me and it was so amazing the amount of information she had, we would get off the phone and I wouldn’t have said we had been on the phone for hours but it happened all the time.
She wanted me to go into developing a large area like she had for them, and if she would’ve lived who knows if she would’ve pulled that off, I didn’t mention it before but holy crap that woman was also stubborn .
There were so many birds in need that the general public doesn’t even know about.
She had a heart for the wild caught and the breeders and she developed a solid relationship with them built on 30 years of trust, so when they were no longer viable they were allowed to live out the rest of their life at her place.
I don’t know what would’ve happened if she would’ve had more years to try to convince me and now we will never know but I can tell you she changed my life for the better, 
I’m so glad we were able to meet her in person last August, my husband and I made a trip out there to bring 12 cockatoos that I knew would have a much better life at her place, which what I saw was just as beautiful as all of the pictures on her website which is how I found her.
I don’t know what I’m going to do to honor her memory but I am definitely going to do something here,  I’m sure once the emotions calm down and I can think more clearly God will give me the answer to that. Rest in peace beautiful friend until we meet again.

Want to send my condolences  on Lori.  Met her years ago thru a classified as I was selling 2 birds.  She was the best home.  My birds were the first she had which started her into rescue.  I am so sorry for your loss. May she Rest in Peace.

when I talked to her about taking my M2 Robert who attacked everyone but my hubby! She took Robert in! she was so smart and made me feel so at ease! the bird workd will moss her for sure!
