Born 3-22-16 in Port Blakely, Bainbridge Island, WA. Peacefully passed away 8-28-2009. A true Washingtonian, moved to Seattle in 1930 with parents Jack and Dora Rayne and sister Maryann to attend Ballard High School, graduating in 1934.Met electronics engineer Raymond Bark at UW med school, she studying nursing, he working with doctors developing the first EKG technology. Married in 1948, widowed in 1965, she volunteered at the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) as a docent, and as a witness to much Seattle history, she turned this into a career that spanned 30 years, becoming the costume curator, staging many memorable exhibits. She was a natural at public speaking doing countless "History of Fashion" shows and public relations for MOHAI).
She loved Japanese arts and culture and became a master of Ikebana, winning many awards. After retiring at age 76, she began a new venture, teaching illiterate adults to read and assisting children with learning disabilities.
She is survived by one son, Roger Bark with wife Carole (Sahlberg), and stepsons Matthew and Jon Loftis.
Immeasurable thanks go to her dedicated, loving, caregivers at TLC Adult Family Home in Snohomish.
Lois had a lifelong love of animals and nature.
