Leon was born in Wilmington, Delaware on September 28,1930.
He left there to join the Navy and fight in the Korean war.
After some years he met and married Miss Lena Marie and their daughter Sharon was born.
Lena Marie passed away sadly in 1970 when Sharon was about 6 yrs old and Lee and Sharon were left on their own..
Lee found love a second time with Irene Roth. They married in Reno, Nevada on July 1st 1972.
Irene had four daughters. Leslie, Robin, Janie and Adair. Little did Lee know what he was getting into!!
Lee and Irene loved to Swing Dance. In their early years of marriage Lee and Irene spent Saturday nights
at the local tavern dancing until the wee hours.
They both loved books and reading. Going to Garage sales and Antique shops was one of their favorite past times.
As time passed Sharon had four boys and Leslie had a boy and girl and Adair had a girl.
Nobody ever loved being a Father and Grandfather more than Lee!! He was made for the job.
Sadly both Irene and Sharon passed away December 2013. Lee was a wonderful caretaker, always with them, loving them and making sure they were as comfortable and happy as possible.
On a happy note Lee would play Basketball with his Grandsons at the High Point Community Center and became a volunteer.
After that he was elected to be a Board member and helped with the Community center for many years.
He played and coached Basketball until his middle 80s with his Grandsons and all the kids at Community Center.
If you talk to any young man between the age of 27 to 33 living now at High Point area or had lived in the High Point area they all know and loved Lee and called him Grandpa.
He was their guy. Lee was known for his kindness and caring.
Lee loved sports of any kind but Hockey was his favorite. Yelling at the television was one of his favorite past times.
He also collected old coins and matchbox cars.
In his last few years he suffered with many medical issues.What a trooper. He dealt with these issues with dignity and courage. He is our Hero.
Lee is survived by his Stepdaughters Leslie, Robin, Janie and Adair. Brother/sister-in-law Chuck and Aggie, Grandsons, Tim, Kamillo, David, Michael and Jason Granddaughters Jessica, Janie, Toni and Sabrina.
Plus many nephew, nieces and Great Grandchildren.
