Lennie Lemmon Cabe, 93, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2012, with family by his side. He resided independently at Merrill Gardens, Stanwood, Washington. He was born to Elmer and Bertha Cabe on December 21, 1918, in Bunker, Washington. The family moved when he was two to Darrington, Washington. He graduated from Darrington High School in 1935 where he met his wife of 57 years, Velma Irene Giles, who preceeded him in death in 1997. He was a devoted husband and father.
Lennie is survived by his brother, Rev. Renus Cabe (El Tora) and his loving daughters, Sandra Grafe (Don) of Lake Stevens, Carol Haigood of Renton and Diane Bulman (Jim) of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was dedicated to his faith and to his wife and children.
Lennie worked 5 years in Darrington before moving his family to Seattle where he served 26 years (1947-1976) as head engineer-custodian for Seattle Public Schools Administrative Center surviving six school superintendents. Upon retirement, Lennie and Velma split their years between Mesa, Arizona, Camano Island and Everett, Wa. Lennie was inducted into the Shuffleboard Hall of Fame in 1988 and won many local and state tournaments, trophies and pins during his years in Mesa, Arizona.
