Larry is my brother, my best friend, and my mentor.

I remember when I was around 14 years old Larry and his friends would have a party at Dad's house it was pretty wild he made ever clear punch, needless to say, I got sick and passed out.
My sister Lourdes was there and she also passed out. When Larry had his house in Ketchikan he was always working on cars, he was fixing up his Red Camaro and I was there helping and learning.
That is where I got my knowledge of working on and fixing cars.
Larry would come to Blaine when I was on vacation I would take Fridays off so we would have 2 days to bar hop and play pool.
I would only play pool when he would come to visit we would always have a good time, so I was always learning all though he told me one of his friends said to him "Larry you're still learning" I would say that to him just to make him laugh.
We had a couple of Christmases with him and a Birthday surprise it was July 27th, 2019 six days after his 67th Birthday we had for him cake, ice cream, and some gifts.

Brother, you will be missed by many, but will never be forgotten I will miss our pool days and bar hopping.

Larry Romero was a neighbor growing up in Ketchikan. We all grew up together sharing birthday parties and always including every body in every party we had in the neighborhood. His family was one of the most fun parties to be included in. Lots of great food with all the neighborhood kids and all their cousins. The Romero family brought our neighborhood into their home and we all felt like one big family. Larry had the most beautiful smile and he loved life and all his family and friends. I wish I could find photos of all our childhood parties together, but they remain vivid in my mind of all the fun times we had growing up. Our neighborhood was made up of great people like Larry. Rest in peace. So happy to hear of what a great life you lived.

Larry was a fantastic man always a joy to be around. And I will never have another dancing partner like him. Gone but never forgotten . Love Ya Larry

Larry was my uncle, but really he was more like a second father to me. He was so much a father figure that when I was little we lived with them and I use to walk around saying my name is Nathan and I’m a Romero. He taught me many things along side my own father who was one of the three amigos (Larry, Jon and Tom my dad). 

Larry had this special way of treating anyone he met like they were family. He was a man you went to for advice or just to have a deep hearty laugh which he was well know for. He was a shining light where ever he went and always put a smile on those around him. 

I will miss the welcoming hugs and that firm pat on the back when you made him laugh. Things won’t be the same with out you Uncle Larry.  Make sure to save us all a spot on that dock in heaven next to you. Dilly Dilly and fish on!

We lost a great friend and a super pool instructor.  Merilyn and I had been looking forward to the end of COVID and getting back together for some games and beer.  He loved his kids and their trips to Fish Lake.  We loved seeing his pictures of those trips.  Everyplace that we went with Larry we met people that knew and loved him.  We will miss him.



My best memory of Larry is how much he shared of himself. 

I met Larry thru Kriscinda Grimm and playing pool at the T Bird. So when I mentioned to Kris that I needed to find a car for my daughter who was going to school in Juneau Alaska she mentioned that Larry was a mechanic and that he should go with me when I went looking. Well I was a little shy to ask but she said no problem and asked him and he answered yes right off.

So I looked on line and had 2-3 places that I thought we could look. I picked Larry up and off we went. I can tell you it was probably one of the funnest times I’ve had looking for a car. First coming with a guy you automatically get more respect and then when he has knowledge to know what to look for it becomes a slam dunk.

We found a used Subaru 2007 Outback with just over 100,000 miles and it got Larry’s approval. My daughter was thrilled and since it was January she had it shipped to Juneau and drove it for 9 years and sold it for twice what I paid for it.

Needless to say I Thank Larry for that and all of the great games of pool and beers that we enjoyed together from that time on!!

larry and I were great friends  , I went to School in Ketchikan Ak.  He made me laugh all the time, and was a very special person.  My Heart goes out to his Family and Children.

Larry came into the family when he married my sister.   He had an infectious smile that made you feel welcome.   When my family and I were transitioning in life, Larry and the whole family took us in until we found a home.  During that time he helped me rebuild an engine for our car.  He was a great mechanic and I learned a lot from him.   Condolences to the entire family.   RIP “2 2 2”

Hi....I lived up the hill from Alfred, JoJo, Harry, Gilbert, Elizabeth, and Josephine...then later Rose and another girl who's name escapes me right now.  Many memories of growing up with Larry and his siblings as my wife Nancy (Dillon) and I both graduated with Larry in 1970 from Kayhi.  The one thing that I always remember about Larry is his infectious smile and outgoing personality.  Many trips to Buggies beach and out to Walker field for games of fly-up.  We also played some mean games of whiffle ball right in front of his Uncle Joe's house on Young Street.  Fishing of the docks at City Float and many other adventures we had back in the 60's as youngsters.  My thoughts are with his family.  RIP Larry

I met Larry when he married my Daughter, Carmen.  He was a very special person to me!!   The memory of him.....I am of Norwegian decent and wasn't a rice eater.  If I had meals with him, I HAD to eat rice!!  Thank you, Larry....I enjoy rice now! You will always be one of my favorite Son-in-Law!  Shalom❤

Larry was an amazing uncle to my brother and I. We always looked forward to our next camping trip  with Uncle Larry and hearing new, and old, stories that he would tell my cousins and I around the campfire. Uncle Larry helped teach me how to fish, and let me drive his boat many times. These are memories that I will never forget.
Uncle Larry, it’s still hard to believe you are no longer with us. I love you and miss you so much. 

Larry has been the greatest friend and fishing partner for the last 40 years, I will miss him dearly! In his words,  “we had a great ride see you on the other side”! 

Larry was an amazing uncle. One of those fun, lovable, people with an enormous heart. He loved his kids, his grandkids, and his many nieces and nephews so much and it showed.

I remember when he let me drive his boat (I’ll attach a photo) when we went camping at Blue Lake. I was really young, couldn’t have been more than 5 or 6. I remember fishing and camping  for many years with him. I remember going to bars with my dad and him, seeing live music, and playing pool. He taught me
how to play pool, and how to play well. He was the best at pool, and I never saw him lose. 
I still remember the time we were camping and we hid his drink and my mom helped him (in the dark) look ALL over the campsite for it while they were both drunk. We all could NOT stop laughing. 
Fish Lake won’t be the same without you but your memory will live on in all the lives you touched. My kids will learn the fisherman’s handshake we would always do. 
Larry, I love you and I miss you so much.
