Lance Eric Georgeson, age 69, of Seattle, Washington, passed away on September 29, 2023. He went peacefully in his sleep. He was predeceased by his parents, William “Donald” Georgeson and Marion (Gulbrandson) Georgeson, and his eldest brother William “Douglas” Georgeson. He is survived by his wife, Tina La Roque Georgeson, his brother, Dirk Georgeson, and two children William “Daniel” Georgeson and Paul Anthony Georgeson. Lance was known as a loving family man, a vital part of his church community, and an approachable person who could strike up a conversation with anyone. Born in Santa Monica, he was raised primarily by his mother in Los Angeles. He received his Bachelor's degree in Linguistics from UCLA before serving two years in the Peace Corps in Gabon, Africa. When he returned to the States, he moved to central Washington to be near his mother and get a Masters degree in English from Central Washington University, where he met his future wife Tina. Lance was intellectually curious and particularly passionate about literature and languages. He was fluent in French and conversational in both Spanish and German. Lance was active in his local Rotary club, practiced fine woodworking, read classic literature, listened to opera, watched birds, and shared all these interests joyfully with his children. He traveled extensively with his family to Ethiopia and Kenya, Spain, Italy, and France, in addition to a cross-country trip in a sleeper van with them. He worked in donor relations for a nursing home, Columbia Lutheran Home, and then at Trinity Lutheran College as the Associate Director of Development, before retiring at age 61. While he did important work in his career, his true passions were his hobbies and time with his family. Lance was a supportive husband, a caring father, and a friend to many. He quietly shared his empathy and wise counsel with his family, brother, nephew, niece, in-laws and cousins. He was a storyteller who never ran out of bad jokes, and had the exceptional ability to get anyone talking about their own life and experiences. His life will be honored at his home.
Memorials designated to Rotary International, ELCA Seminary Scholarship fund and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
