Once a self-declared 'beach bum,' Ken spent a decade of his life calling Alki Beach home. Amidst the gentle lull of the waves and occasional sun, he taught his kids to enjoy walks on the beach searching for sand dollars and beach treasures.
A true aficionado of music, he danced through life to the tunes of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. He delighted in recounting stories of the time he worked as a “bookie” and a “roadie,” often losing his young children inside Naf Studio. He would tell how on more than one occasions he found his rambunctious children interrupting band practices and playing guitar or drums alongside various musicians. Most rememberable an interrupted practice with Pearl Jam, where the kids were gifted a signed drum stick and guitar pick.
A familiar face at the Chelan Bar, where friendships blossomed, he not only found camaraderie but also love. In a celebration of life fitting for him, Ken exchanged vows with Linda Gomes, his second wife, at the very bar where they first met. They spent 15 years together before she passed in 2019, he loved her even in death.
Known for his love of a good drink and a peaceful day by the water, although his passion for fishing waned in his later years, the memories of those tranquil days remained etched in his heart.
Ken was born in Mercedes, California to his parents Kenneth Gomes SR. and Virginia Kuykendall. He is survived by his siblings Karen Canidia, Kevin Gomes and Keith Gomes.
He is also survived by his first wife, Kathy, and their two children, Katy Schaff(Gomes) and Kelly Gomes, his stepsons Jon and Raymond Fullbright, his 5 grandchildren Sedona Schaff, Amelia Gomes, Cali Gomes, Hannah Quall, Jacqueline Quall, and the memory of his granddaughter Lilia Moody.
In his honor, let the music play, the glasses clink, and the gentle waves of Puget Sound bid him farewell.
