Kenji Onishi April 24, 1027-October 30, 2024. Dad went to sleep on Tuesday, October 29th and didn’t wake up on Wednesday morning. He spent years as a public school teacher and retired decades ago but never stopped teaching. He taught us how to be a faithful follower of Jesus. He taught us to recognize and stand for those with little or no voice in society. He taught us to serve others without expecting anything in return. He taught us to honor and care for family. He taught us to be loving fathers and husbands. It’s of great comfort to know he is without pain and is reunited with mom. He leaves a huge hole in our hearts.
There will be a memorial service honoring Kenji Onishi (April 24, 1927-October 30, 2024) and Martha Onishi (October 13, 1934-September 13, 2021) on Saturday, December 14, 2024. The service will take place at Blaine Memorial United Methodist Church, 3001 24th Avenue South, Seattle, WA, 98144. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Blaine Memorial United Methodist Church, FIUTS (Foundation for International Understanding Through Students) or another non-profit that furthers human rights/civil rights and addresses inequities in our community and world. (Some that he regularly supported are Habitat for Humanity, Southern Poverty Law Center, and many Native American non-profits.) We feel so grateful for the many people that have prayed and have sent thoughts of love and support since dad’s passing. Your love continues to mean so much as our family works through this loss.
