Gayle was born in Seattle on December 13, 1934. Raised in Lake City, Gayle stayed near her family until 1965, when she moved to San Jose, California. She returned to Seattle in 1973. After retiring, she moved to Snohomish, Washington to be near her daughters and grandsons.
After an extended illness, Gayle moved to Everett where she remained until her death.
Gayle graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle in 1953. She entered the banking world after graduation, and stayed in this profession until retiring. She would proudly tell us that she balanced her till to the penny every time!
Gayle was active in many clubs during her life, including sororities, bowling leagues, a bluebird leader, a bridge group and various card game groups at the Snohomish Senior Center.
She loved nature of any kind - birds, flowers, and a particular fondness for rivers. She loved puttering in her garden awash with color and feeding any type of animal that appeared hungry. She enjoyed researching the history of rivers, finding the headwaters and following its conclusion to the sea.
Gayle is survived by her two daughters, Trudy Virgin and Kelly Doerflinger, four grandchildren, Jessica Hunt, Joelle Cook, Tristan Virgin and Drew Virgin, and one great granddaughter, Maddy Jo Toro.
A private ceremony will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle, Washington.
