Kathleen "Mac" McCormick, age 76, peacefully passed away on her own terms, embodying the independence and resolve with which she lived her entire life. Her departure was both peaceful and quick, sparing her any suffering and reflecting her lifelong insistence on doing everything her way.
Mac was nothing short of brilliant, her mind a beacon of wit, humor, and spunk. Her life was rich with character and sass, making her a memorable figure to all who knew her. Notably compassionate, she was the kind of person who would, and did, give the coat off her back to help a stranger in need.
Choosing to eschew societal norms, Mac delved into the realms of intellectual pursuit and philosophical inquiry. She thrived on stimulating conversations and debates, seeking out the company of those who shared her passion for knowledge. Beyond her intellectual endeavors, Kathie was an avid artist who found joy in gardening, crafting, and immersing herself in literature. Her spirit of exploration and inquiry extended into the digital world, where she cultivated friendships that spanned the globe, bound by shared interests and lively discussions.
Kathie's legacy is lovingly carried on by her daughter, Crystal, and son-in-law, Steve, alongside her cherished granddaughters, Amanda, Rochelle, Renee (and her partner, Jason). Her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Ayana, and Naiara, also survive her, embodying the future of her indomitable spirit.
Kathie is survived by her brother, Jeff, and sister, Linda, who together mourn her passing while celebrating the indelible mark she left on their lives and the lives of many. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard, in 2023, and her beloved husband, David, in 2014, to whom she was married for 46 years. The family finds comfort in the belief that Kathie and David's reunion transcends this earthly existence, offering a poignant reminder of their everlasting love.
In lieu of traditional services, the family encourages all who knew “Mac” to honor her memory in a way that reflects the essence of who she was: by engaging in acts of kindness, pursuing knowledge, and embracing life with all its beauty and complexity. Kathleen "Mac" McCormick will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
