June 15, 1943 – January 17, 2014
Joyce, 70, passed away on January 17, 2014, following a long illness. Born the ninth child of William and Marguerite Edwards she grew up in Sherman County Oregon. As the youngest child of a large family she had many older siblings looking out for her, and following her mother’s death she went to live with her oldest sister Mary.
Joyce briefly attended the University of Oregon before meeting and marrying Ben Cabreros, Jr. in 1962. Together, they enjoyed family activities and the outdoors, including camping and road-trips to visit family; always stopping for historical markers along the way. She had a green thumb and loved gardening; her irises were the envy of the neighborhood.
She was an avid sports woman and enjoyed playing soccer, softball, bowling and golf. She was the past-president of the Hi-Six Soccer Association 1978-81 and coached her daughter’s soccer team.
She held several clerical and accounting positions at Boeing, Women's University Club, Lilly-Miller, Endresen Diesel and the Seattle School District.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ben, who died in 1985, as well as her siblings Mary Baumgarden, Wilma Shaw, Rose Smith, and Baby Brother. She is survived by her two children Brian, of Burlingame, CA, his wife Trina and two grandsons Jackson and Dylan and her daughter Shara, of Palm Springs, CA and her spouse Julie; as well as her three sisters Viola Stepper, Elmira Boyce, and Rebecca Parker and two brothers Les Edwards and Bill Edwards; as well as Sister-In-Law Tina Hamilton and husband Don; Brother-in-Law David Cabreros and wife Janice and various nieces, nephews and cousins.
