Jolene Akemi Nakamoto, beloved partner of Randy Santossio, passed away suddenly on June 2, 2023, while at home with her family. Born and raised in the north Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, she attended Roosevelt High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Seattle University’s business school. In addition to her partner Randy of 15 years, she is survived by their child Kyle Hiroshi of Bellevue; her parents James and JoAnn Nakamoto of Seattle; her brother Garett Nakamoto of Seattle; Traci and Bob Montefusco of Scottsdale, AZ; Gloria and Calvin Kunimoto of Cerritos, CA; Lynette and Jim Nerney of Concord, CA; Corinne and Glenn (deceased) Nakamoto of Honolulu, HI; Joyce Harano of Waipahu, HI; Eileen Nakamoto and Brian Nakamoto of Waipahu, HI. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews in Washington, California, Nevada, and Hawaii.
After graduating from college, Jolene took a practicum position and an internship at the Bank of England before taking a position in commercial banking in London. During her time abroad, Jolene found a deep passion for travel, visiting France, Germany, Poland, Hungary, and many nations in between. After deciding to pursue a career in technology, Jolene returned to the US, first to be a program manager at Microsoft and then helping to build products for other leading companies in the Pacific Northwest. Even after returning home to the Seattle area, Jolene continued to explore various parts of the world, visiting Thailand, Tibet, Egypt, Nepal, Japan, Mexico, and to various states in the US spanning from New York to Hawaii. She also enjoyed camping with her family and friends, supporting the local PTA and area schools, giving time to her local Little League Board, and teaching-and learning-Japanese with her son.
She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A private memorial will be held at Evergreen Washelli in Seattle.
