84, died on Friday June 22, 2001 after a long battle with cancer. He was born November 14, 1916 in Seattle, the son of Michael M. Spillane and Maude T. Spillane O'Shea. Jack was raised in Seattle during the Depression, attended the University of Washington, and married Dorothy K. Larson on May 25, 1940. After establishing his own business building houses in the Seattle area, he served in the Coast Guard Reserve during WWII. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, skiing, golfing, tennis, gardening, and traveling with his wife and four children. He was a member of the Seattle Chrysanthemum Society and the Seattle Master Builders Association, being named Builder of the Year in 1979. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Madeleine, and his son Michael. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, three children: John Spillane, Kathleen James and husband Doug, Colleen Stergios and husband Mike, seven grandchildren: Janice and Stephen James, Michael, Daniel, and Joseph Spillane, Shannon Fritzke, Matthew Shelhamer, and two great-grandchildren: Ella and Owen Spillane.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2001 at St. Monica Catholic Church on Mercer Island. Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Evergreen-Washelli. Memorials
