John Jobu Matsuoka passed away peacefully in his sleep in the morning of December 9th, 2015. John was born September 15, 1927 in Seattle, Washington to Otogoru and Okuma Matsuoka. He graduated from Renton High School following internment at Minidoka during WWII. Jobu served in the Korean War during the early 1950's as a Medic. He married the love of his life, Fuyuko, in 1960. He was a mechanic at Boeing Co. for more than three decades.
"Jobs", as he was affectionately called by family members, loved to go bowling, clam digging, fishing and matsukake (mushroom) hunting, traveling to Hawaii and especially loved trips involving "casino" hopping. He loved all kinds of Asian cuisines, especially, "Hot Pot Seafood" soup at his favorite local Chinese restaurant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fuyuko; sister, Mari Anderson; brother, Toru Matsuoka and survived by his youngest brother, George (Violet) Matsuoka plus many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on January 16th, 1:00pm at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave, Seattle.
