Born in Japan, Jack moved to the Seattle area at the age of ten. He served in the US Army, graduated from the University of Washington, and owned and operated a wholesale lumber business for many years. Jack had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He was a salmon fisherman and duck hunter starting in his early teens and began hunting big game in 1962. He became extremely knowledgeable on larger mammals of the world and made about 60 safaris world-wide. He was also a skier and, in his youth, an active mountain climber with about 30 first ascents.
Jack was preceded by his parents, John “Leonard” (d. 1984) and Ruby Schwabland (d. 1969), and his wife of 44 years Carol Lee “Casey” Schwabland (d. 2000). He is survived by his son Peter (JoAnn), Lake Forest Park, sister, Linda Simmons (John), Colorado, and grandchildren, Levi and Lucy, Lake Forest Park. Services are at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 16th at Acacia Funeral Home, 14951 Bothell Way N.E., Lake Forest Park.
All are welcome to sign the online guestbook below and add any stories of messages for the Schwabland Family.
