John Duane Gannaw Jr. passed away on April 11th, 2020 unexpectedly due to a heart attack. John was born, raised, and lived his entire life in the Seattle area. He was born to John (Jack) Gannaw Sr. and Judy (Lawhead) Gannaw on May 25th, 1957. He was the proud oldest of five siblings, and leaves behind Jodi (Randy), Jeff, Jay (Tina), and Dawn.
John gave his all to everything he did and naturally connected with people. His jobs over the years included a Stover’s truck driver, Salesman at Huling Bros., and finished his career as the infamous bartender at Roxy’s. He was always dedicated to his work and treated everyone like his own. From his upbeat personality, to his constant smile, and his love for his chihuahua sidekick “Buster”, John would do anything for anyone.
He leaves behind his four children who would arguably give him the title of “Best Dad:” Chrissy (Anthony), Johnny (Gi), Lester (Shannon), and Brittany (Maddi). John had a special relationship with each of his children and will always be an important part of their lives. He was blessed and proud to become a grandpa to his only grandchild, Lucia Ann. John also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, and friends of the family that would consider him their father figure.
John was preceded in death by the love of his life, Colleen (Spadoni), where he will rest to lay with her for eternity. May they dance among the stars, may they look down on us always, and may they be together forever- as it was meant to be. Although taken too soon- we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and happily lived life with style, humor, and exactly his own way.
John’s Celebration of Life will be soon, when we can all be together to celebrate a man who loved everyone and was loved by so many. For more information or to share a memory of an incredible man we invite you to reach out to any of his children.
