She was an only child born to the late Walter and Priscilla Chedister, Jul. 15, 1934, in Chicago, Ill. She married the late Lawrence Cook in 1960, and they lived together in Northern California before relocating to the greater Seattle area in 1980.
Joann worked in numerous capacities throughout her years, but her central passion surrounded assist-ing troubled teens and youth via foster care and bowling programs. In addition to Joann’s community efforts, she was also an active entrepreneur who successfully developed and managed Greenwood Rentals.
Joann was a strong willed, big hearted, opinionated maverick who loved reading, art, creative writing and travel; she and her husband traveled much and had countless adventures over the course of her life.
Joann is survived by six children: Debbie Quain, of South Prairie, WA; Lawrence Cook, of Seattle, WA; Michael Cook, of Lake Hughes, CA; Jennifer Petersen, of Lake Taps, WA; Anna Doan, of Colorado Springs, CO; and Christopher Cook, of Palouse, WA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
