Jenney W Tauber (nee Wang) was at home in Seattle, WA, surrounded by her beloved family when she left us far too early on December 10, 2021, at age 51. Jenney is survived by her husband Dan, mother Yuling, sister Phoenney, brother-in-law Chris, and extended family. Her father, Chun Wang, preceded her in death. We are heartbroken to lose the beautiful spirit of our cherished wife, daughter, sister, and friend.
Jenney was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and left with her family in 1974. They subsequently lived in Laos, Cambodia, Taiwan, and El Salvador before immigrating to northern California in 1978. She attended Santa Clara High School and graduated from Wellesley College in 1992 with degrees in Art History and Chinese studies. After college Jenney worked at Coach before joining her sister, who was always her best friend, in Manhattan. She was a buyer for Barneys NY and then managed apparel licensing for Sesame Workshop. She met Dan in 1997 and they married in 2001. In 2002 they moved to Seattle and adopted Jenney’s first dog, Puck, on their wedding anniversary. In Seattle, Jenney worked in merchandising for Eddie Bauer and then later in procurement for T-Mobile. In 2007, they adopted a second dog, Jinx, after buying the house they would later remodel into the home Jenney had always envisioned (minus a tennis court).
Jenney often said that living with cancer gave her the gift of perspective. She was never flustered or felt self-pity, as no smaller obstacle could overwhelm her. Instead she chose to appreciate and enjoy each day, focusing on what truly matters. That lesson inspires us still. Jenney met treatments which would sap anyone’s will and strength with tenacity, grace, optimism, and humor, along with a winning kindness for those providing her care. She was not one for sadness. In her final days, her family was her sole concern. She wanted her loved ones to care for each other and find a path to happiness again one day.
Jenney’s example and love remind us to hold on tight to the memories that we made together. She did not want a funeral so we will gather to celebrate her life at a future date, and per Jenney’s wish, we will not wear black.
