

Jean Masae Sakita, a longtime resident of Federal Way, passed away on Dec. 9, 2020 at the age of 94.The family was sent to the Tule Lake internment camp in CA when WWII began. Jean was an active participant in camp life, joining many groups such as the Girls Friendship Club and Community REC Club, and graduated from high school in 1944. Jean and her late husband George owned and operated Star Lake Greenhouse for 35 years before retiring in 1995. She loved traveling, golfing, cheering on Seattle sports teams, and enjoyed her family and friends. Grandma Jean will be missed by her family. Daughters Kathy (Dr. Bruce) Sako and Marcia (Todd) Nakamura; grandkids Marcie (Ray) Orme, Dr. Mikki Seagren, Sean Seagren, Kelli Nakamura, and Krista Nakamura; and great grandson Ray Orme III. Jean is also survived by her younger sister Shirley (Shoji) Kino and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in her death by her parents Keijiro and Kin Iwasaki, older sister Yukie Hosikawa, niece Kimiko Ueda, and husband George Sakita. A special "Thank you" to Angelwings Adult Family Home in Des Moines, WA. Amelia Hertog and staff provided wonderful care to Jean during her stay at their facility.In lieu of flowers and Koden, donations can be sent to Densho: The Japanese American Legacy Project or a charity of your choice. Due to the pandemic, no service will be held.
