On Thursday, April 23rd, Janice Brandt's struggle with inflammatory breast cancer ended, and she now knows what we all wonder about—what heaven is really like. Throughout the last two years, she faced the terrible diagnosis with strength and a passion to make every moment count including 3 trips to Hawaii, trips to California, camping all over Washington, attending performances, weddings and showers, talking politics and remaining a gracious friend, hostess, loving mother, wife and grandmother. Special thanks from the family go out to the compassionate care of her doctors, nurses and health care workers at Swedish Cancer Institute and Gentiva Hospice; who helped Janice manage her condition so that during her final years she could do everything she wanted to do and die at home with dignity.
Janice Rose Herr was born in 1946, attended Holy Rosary West Seattle. She proudly became Janice Rose Brandt in 1967 when she married the love of her life, Tim Brandt. They had 3 children: Tim Brandt Jr. (deceased 1986), Cindy Brandt and Laura (Brandt) Haupt. Janice is also survived by two fantastic son-in-laws and 4 wonderful grandchildren. She graduated from Seattle University. Janice was proud of the impact she had on several generations of children as a music and elementary school teacher.
