Janet Louise Steil passed away on May 15, 2022, at the age of 73. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1948 to Dominick and Stella. She is survived by her husband Robert Steil, her daughters, Jennifer, Gina, Anna, her grandchildren, sister Carol, brother Frank, nieces, nephews, and so many friends and family.
Janet was a devoted registered nurse for over 30 years. She had an adventurous spirit, at the age of 20 she took her nursing skills to rural Mexico, traveling with a team on an archeological dig. Early on in her career she was a flight nurse, serving as a medical crew director for the Air Force reserves during the Vietnam era. Soon after she was promoted to 1st Lieutenant.
She had been known to chop down her own Christmas tree and drag it home in the snow with three kids and a dog by her side. She convinced her family she knew how to ride a motorcycle, and took it around the house on one wheel. She was immensely proud of her Italian heritage, and was full of happiness when she told stories of her childhood. Later in life, you could always find her nose in a book, her head over a puzzle, and she watched every episode of CSI and Law and Order. Her compassion for others, witty spirit, and humor will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
