Jane Mei-Chun Wong Seto was born on May 15, 1927 to Jee Kwun Wong and Lee Wan Wah Wong in Beijing, China. Fleeing the rise of communism, her family relocated to Hong Kong, where she was raised and completed her medical education. During this period, she also underwent clinical training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, Ireland. Jane left Hong Kong to continue her medical internship training at Regina Grey Nun's Hospital in Saskatchewan, Canada, and ultimately completed her medical residency in Providence Hospital in Seattle. She later practiced in Houston, taught Public Health and performed research at Tulane University, and worked in public health in New Orleans.
Jane met her husband, Yeb Jo Seto, during their emigration to the US and Canada. They married on February 14,1957 and had two surviving children, Samuel and Susanna, whom they lovingly raised in Metairie, Louisiana. Following the devastating loss of her husband in 1984, Jane continued to be a devoted pillar for her family, witnessing her two children start families of their own and bring her the joy of six beloved grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In her retirement, Jane helped to care for her grandchildren, was active in her community, and strengthened her spiritual connection with God.
Radiating every room she entered with grace and tenacity, Jane will be remembered for her compassionate and wise spirit. Jane, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, valued her relationships dearly. Those lucky to know her were gifted with her selflessness, warmth, and delightful sense of humor. She made a lasting impact on all who came to know her, and she will be cherished and missed deeply. Jane was welcomed into Heaven by the Lord on July 20th.
Jane is survived by her son, Samuel and his wife Grace, as well as their children Steven and his wife Fiona, and Christopher. She is also survived by her daughter, Susanna and her husband Carl Pike, along with their children Joshua, his wife Alyssa and son Simeon, Gabriel and his wife Rosie, Sean, and Nikita.
