James (Jim) Lloyd Richards born March 10, 1932, left this earth to be with his Lord on July 22, 2024. Jim was born to Francis Lloyd Richards and Violet (Buck) Richards on a small farm outside of Decatur Nebraska. He was the oldest of 7 children. He suffered with asthma and missed a lot of school dropping out after 9th grade. Then the Korean war came along, and he was drafted in January of 1953 and shipped to Korea from Fort Lewis in western Washington. He returned to the states in the fall of 1954. He married Patricia (Pat) Ann Harmon January 23, 1955, they moved to Seattle immediately after and had 2 children Renae (1958) and April (1961). Jim received his high school diploma in the army and went on to earn his Associate of Applied Science degree in 1989. After many years as a diesel mechanic, he retired as a vocational instructor at South Seattle Community college.
Jim and Pat enjoyed many trips domestically and abroad. He was a passionate wood carver, a hobby he shared with his Grandson Victor.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, sister Elaine, and daughter Renae.
He is survived by his wife Pat, Daughter April (Bill) McMaster, Grandson Ryan (Bri) Purser, Granddaughter Roseanne, Grandson Jesse (Cathy) Pennington, Grandson Victor (Patience) Pennington, and Greatgrandchildren: Riley, Silas, and Leah. He is also survived by his siblings: Shirley Giles, Betty (Harry) Schwartz, Bob Richards, Rita (John) Foster, and Paul (Leanne) Richards and countless other relatives and friends. We were all blessed by his presence and wished we could be more like him.
A private family service will be held Saturday August 31, 2024, at 2PM.
