James Garma was born on November 14, 1954, in San Agustin, Isabela, Philippines. He was the 4th child of Andalicio and Potenciana Ballesteros Garma. His siblings are Carolina King, Nancy Ayungac, Bella Lapid, and Gene Garma. His father remarried Lourdes Garma and had siblings Jony, Jean, Jason, Joefrey, and Andy (deceased).
In 1985 he migrated from the Philippines to Seattle Washington, where he worked as an auto mechanic and later owned his own business naming it Biyaya Auto Repair, later changing the business's name to JC Auto Repair Inc. He successfully ran his business for 30 years.
James spent his leisure time watching cable television, he loved basketball, football, baseball bowling, and gold mining. He spent almost every weekend barbecuing with his family, relatives, and friends. He was constantly entertaining the family with his beautiful singing voice. James loved his annual trip to the Philippines to visit his farm and to reunite with high school batch friends and relatives. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, he was unable to make this trip for the last couple of years.
James is survived by his wife, Star; children, Joie, Ros, Jade, Jaypee, and Jam; grandchildren, Jonah, Micah, and JJ.
A viewing will be held at Evergreen Washelli Funeral home on Thursday, February 3, from 4-6 pm.
A funeral mass will occur Friday, February 4, 2022, with a viewing from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Pius, 22909 58th Ave W, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043. A graveside service will occur Friday, February 4, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Holyrood Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St, Shoreline, WA 98133.
