Howard Storhoff was born in June, 1932. He came into the world in the same farmhouse where he and his siblings grew up, in Eastedge, North Dakota. He and his wife Helen lived just two miles apart, going to school and singing in the church choir together. Growing up on farms, they knew the value of hard work from a young age.
Howard served in the Naval Air Force during the Korean war. During the war, he and Helen began writing letters to each other and soon fell in love. After Howard was discharged in 1956, he moved to Seattle to work at Boeing. He briefly returned to North Dakota to marry Helen in 1957. Helen relocated to Seattle, where they were happily married for 47 years before her death. Both their careers were at Boeing.
Howard and his wife joined the First Lutheran Church of West Seattle in 1958 where they were active and faithful congregants. They believed deeply in Jesus Christ and in service to others. Howard was a caring husband and brother, an active member of the West Seattle Fraternal Order of Eagles for 27 years, and a thoughtful neighbor who was always lending a hand to those that needed help. Howard is survived by his sister Valborg Hoff of Bismark, North Dakota, and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in Howard’s memory can be made to the First Lutheran Church of West Seattle Endowment Fund.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11am on February 10th, at First Lutheran Church of West Seattle, 4105 California Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98116.
