Jerry Harmon, 89, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, May 5th 2017. He was born in Opelika, Alabama to Frank and Ezra Harmon. After graduating from Valley High School in Chambers County, AL, Jerry attended Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, AL on a football scholarship. He left college to join the Navy, serving in the Pacific during and after World War II. He went to yeoman school and worked in the engine room of the USS Tekesta, traveling to many locations throughout the Pacific including China, Australia, Alaska, and the Panama Canal. Jerry met his sweetheart, Lee Myhre, at a USO dance in Seattle in May of 1948. They courted through letters and, after leaving the Navy, Jerry moved to Seattle. Jerry and Lee were married on April 2, 1949.
Jerry and Lee owned a home in Lake City for 64 years where they raised two daughters, Susan and Gerry Lee. He worked for the Coca-Cola Company as a Salesman and Manager. Jerry was a member of the Masons and Master of Constellation and Arcana Lodges and a lifetime member of University Lodge and Blalock Lodge. He served as a Lodge Secretary for a total of 28 years. Jerry was a gifted writer and engaging storyteller. He loved working in his yard and camping with family and friends. Jerry and Lee moved to Issaquah in 2014 to be near their daughter, Susan.
Jerry is survived by his wife Lee, his daughters Susan Lohman (Nicholas) and Gerry Lee Hockett (Richard), his grandchildren Christopher and Kelly, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
