Jerry Goodman of Mountlake Terrace entered into joy, into the eternal Kingdom of our glorious Lord Jesus Christ.
He was a junior high English and Drama teacher at Meadowdale Junior and Middle School in Lynnwood, WA for over 30 years in the mid to late 20th century; and coached boys and girls basketball at Meadowdale Junior as well as several years of coaching freshman boys basketball at Lynnwood High School.
He loved teaching, especially his plays in his memorable drama room, as well as Young Adult Fiction Literature Class.
Jerry was a singer who loved singing to and for the Lord in churches, for weddings, and nursing homes. He even sang the National Anthem at the last Mariners’ game of the regular season in the mid 80’s at the Kingdome.
In his younger days, he was in the Army Reserves. He was a graduate of Lincoln High in Seattle (Go Lynx!) class of 1954 and was very proud of his graduating senior class. He rowed on Husky Crew in the land of the Conibear Shellhouse in the 1950’s. He later graduated from Western.
He is survived by his lovely wife Jeannie of 59 years, his son Steve, and his brother John (Joan) of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa.
He loved taking his family on the splendid hikes of Holden Village in the Cascade Mountains. The Goodmans loved going on swims across Bitter Lake together. Jerry loved golfing at Jackson, Jefferson, and West Seattle.
Jean and Steve would like to thank Dr. Anny Soon and team, the staffs at Northwest Hospital, Bothell Healthcare, Evergreen Hospital, and his amazingly talented and compassionate nurse of Evergreen Health Home Care, Heather Landsberger.
Jerry and Jeannie are members of Edmonds Presbyterian Church where Jerry enjoyed singing in the choir, attending men’s Fellowship, and going to Tall Timber Ranch for men’s retreats. He was thankful for his church family.
One more thing…Jerry loved making wooden puzzles for people!
