Garfield ?Gar? A. Boomer, born in Red Willow, Alberta, Canada on December 12, 1915, died suddenly in Seattle on January 3, 2002. He moved to Seattle with his wife Isabel in 1953 where he was employed by Precision Engineering until his retirement in 1985 at age 70. He was a 48-year member of Local 289 Automotive Machinists of which he was past president. After retiring he continued working as a Security Guard at Seattle Film Works for another ten years. Only then did he stop work because of failing eyesight. Beside his wife of 52 years, Isabel, he is survived by daughter, Carol Lengel, grandson, Stephen, of Las Vegas, Nevada and grandson, Andrew, with the U.S. Air Force in Texas. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews in Canada. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2002, 2:00 PM at Evergreen ? Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Guide Dogs of America, 13445 Glenoaks Blvd., Sylmar, CA 91342-9955.
