Hello to the friends and family of Francisca,
I met Francisca while a Freshman at Bowen High School in Chicago, we became instant friends, we had a great surprise when she found out that my cousin Michael Pietila was a good friend of hers too. The 3 of us had some fun times during the time. Once everyone graduated I had lost touch, but Michael and Francisca, managed to keep in contact. Thanks to Facebook, we reconnected and OMG, the memories that flooded back. Francisca sent me a beautiful packet of photos, letters and copy of the high school newspaper all three of us worked on. It was the best of times. I hope Francisca and my cousin Michael are putting together and creating art in heaven.

Familia, lo siento mucho, I was out of town. Your mama was one in a million, who loved and cared for all of you and her community.  She produced a special light that will be greatly missed. Abrazos para todos. Y'all  chose a lovely picture of her. Con cariño y amor.

RIP Francisca, We have not seen each other in many years. My God bless you on your heavenly trip home. Please give your mother a big hug for me. You will be missed.

2001. That blue skirt. That whole summer. Yes, summers before. Yes, summers after. But that blue skirt. It was in those moments that it really landed. You are consistently a light, and now you are light ancestral. Thank you for so many lessons you have taught me thru just being. Thank you for the love you have shown me thru the years. Thank you for that sweet laugh, that big smile. Thank you for the legacy of family and community that you have left with all of us. Love to the entire family.

My family met Francisca Garcia when we lived in a small apartment on Republican St in Seattle. She babysat me and even gave me my first ear piercings. Her beautiful spirit and kindness is a happy memory of my childhood and I will always remember her.

One day after baby sitting my daughter, Sabrina was returned to us, but something was different, she now had pierced ears! A delightful tradition we were now introduced to. Thank you Francisca, we have always liked and admired you. The Nelson family

I was fortunate enough to be in the Spanish-speaking choro of “Electricidad” with Francisca back in 2011 with eSe Teatro. We, along with one more, made up the chorus of vecinas chismosas commenting on the action of the play and I have such fond memories of the fun we had in rehearsals and final performances! I loved hanging out w/Francisca, and once the show was over, she brought me in to SEED-Seattle & RVA to design some posters for Arts Gumbo. I’ll always have fond memories of her & her wonderful sense of humor. She touched so many!

Dear Garcia family… Francisca was so dedicated to her children’ education. My memories of her support of Latona Elementary are profound. One image I’ll always carry of her is tending her flock at Camp Orkila. The kids she chaperoned there were adored her as did I! Our memories carry her on.💞☮️💞
