In 1951 he and his family moved to Washington, first Yakima, where his parents had settled, then on to Seattle where he worked in several architecture firms before opening his own office in Kenmore. He was a member of Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church and was always ready to talk about religion and philosophy. Floyd enjoyed ballroom dancing and big band music. Writing about the family history, poetry and letters to express his thoughts were favorite hobbies. His passion for architecture often charted the path of family vacations.
