After a long and wonderful life, Evelyn M. Baird passed peacefully from this world, surrounded by loved ones, on July 14, 2007.
Evelyn was born on February 27, 1918 in Haymarsh North Dakota, the daughter to Peter and
Anna Kastner. She spent her childhood growing up and attending school in the farming community of Haymarsh helping to care for her brothers and sister after the untimely passing of her mother Anna.
In the Spring of ?41 Evelyn moved to the Seattle area where she worked for the Boeing Company. It was here that she met her future husband Charles F. Baird. They were married on August 1, 1942 and shortly there after moved to Montana to work and raise their family. In 1968 Evelyn, Charles and son Russell moved back to the Seattle area where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
Evelyn was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed cooking, sewing, camping, fishing and volunteer work for the church but her greatest passion was for gardening. Evelyn will always be remembered by friends and family tending for her flowers and vegetable garden.
Evelyn worked for and retired from the Lake Washington School District having spent 20 years working in the school cafeteria. It was the perfect job for her, loving to be around children and cooking for others.
