Ellen Barton passed away September 20, 2017 in Cashmere, Washington. Ellen was born in Seattle, Washington to John and Gertrude Chesnutt. Ellen was raised in Seattle and used to tell stories about it being safe for her to ride her bicycle all over town. Ellen graduated from Franklin High School in Seattle, the same High School that her father, John James Chesnutt, and brothers David and John L. attended.
Ellen loved the rural life and moved from Seattle to various places in Washington State. Ellen was taught to drive by her father and was on the go ever since. Her oldest children remember a week long camping trip in her 1949 Chevrolet. The trip went all over Washington, from the Olympic Peninsula to the northeast part of the state.
Ellen is survived by her children Brian (Karen), Kelvin (Patti), Elisabeth, Joel and Nathan, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two older brothers, David S. Chesnutt, Seattle, WA and John L. Chesnutt, Portland, OR. A younger sister, Jane Ann Chesnutt died November 8, 1950. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Mandy.
Graveside services to be held Monday, October 2, 2017, 10 AM at Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Seattle followed by a visit to the family plot at Lakeview Cemetery, Seattle.
