Edward Gerald Schork, "Jerry", 97, originally from New York, residing the last 10 years in Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully of natural causes on 5/18/2018 while surrounded by his devoted family.
Jerry was born on 1/11/1921 in College Point, New York. The son of Anthony Schork and Lucy Schork, nee Bowman. He was pre-deceased by siblings: Lawrence, Dorothy, Ruth, Rosemary, and Francis.
Jerry enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and worked as a medic on the USS Yorktown, honorably discharged in 1946. He came home to marry the love of his life and soul mate, Veronica "Ronnie" Kerrigan. They enjoyed 55 years together before God called Ronnie home in 2007.
Jerry is survived by his children, Mary Schork, Ginger Lyons and husband Bob Lyons, Jeannie Carlsen, devoted grandchildren: Danielle Lyons, Christopher Lyons, Mary Catherine Carlsen and faithful dogs Hannah and Norby.
Jerry was loved and cherished by many nieces and nephews, creating a life time of special memories with barbecues, picnics and countless family gatherings.
He worked as a carpenter and acted as recording secretary of the New York Carpenters Local Union 1921. A faithful man, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Our Lady of Loretto parish, in Hempstead New York.
A lifetime of memories would be impossible to write in a brief obituary column. He was an honorable man, loved by so many who's lives he touched. He was faithful, patient and kind. A teacher of chess, a master of word games, beating us all in scrabble up to the end. He was a voracious reader, not unusual to be reading three different books at once. His attention to detail was unsurpassed in everything he did from his carpentry skills to taking care of his family. Rest in peace Pop, we will love you forever and so grateful to call you Dad.
Services for Jerry include a visitation at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on 05/23/2018 from 5pm to 8pm, Mass and funeral services at Our Lady of the Guadalupe on 05/24/2018 at 11am followed by entombment with his beloved wife Ronnie at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline.
