Donna Ferguson, passed away, March 16, 2021, in Seattle, WA. She was born April 17, 1936 in Roswell, New Mexico, but has been a resident of Seattle for several years.
Donna, is survived by her children Sherie (Atlanta, GA), Randy (Louisville, KY) and Lori, also in Seattle, Cory (Lori’s father of Roswell, NM), and 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
With the biggest heart, Donna made friends easily, and had many close friends here in Seattle, and remained in close touch with friends back in Roswell, and other family who had moved away - it's so easy to lose touch once you leave a place, but she cared too much. She was always curious about the world, and people, and wanted to know everything about you if you were in her life at all. Her positive outlook, buoyant spirit and appreciation for all the miracles around us every day were an inspiration. She marveled at the natural world always, butterflies, hummingbirds, puffy clouds, a beautiful tree or flower, thunder, daybreak and sunsets; on a trip, exploring Seattle, or just an outing to the store, each walk, each day, nothing was taken for granted. She loved the Pacific Northwest so much, she was forever grateful to her daughter, Lori, for moving up here and inspiring her to also make the move - so many wonderful adventures.
A strong, smart woman, with a take charge, can-do attitude, she was a force to be reckoned with once she decided to do something. She made sure she could always take care of herself and her family, and be independent, but having someone to share life with made her heart happiest.
No one ever believed her age, she took such good care of herself, and was so very young at heart. She was an exercise and physical fitness “addict” as she would describe, it was her favorite thing to do: morning workouts, stair climbs and walks, sometimes with a little running or skipping mixed in, and never without music, C89.5 was her favorite radio station.
Her bright, beautiful light will be so dearly missed. As she wrote to her mother, who she was so very close to, “I always take you, in spirit Mom, on my walks early each morning, the air is always crisp and clean and the sun just at dawning. I know part of you is in me, as I glide briskly on my way, and the love I feel is timeless and much more than I can say…” The love she had for for life and for her children, "the joy of her life" will bring us comfort as we remember and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ASPCA.
A small private graveside service will occur Thursday, March 25th 2021 at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Washelli Cemetery. A celebration of her life with friends will take place later in the year.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Evergreen-Washelli.com for the Ferguson family.
