Dennis McMahon Sr. passed peacefully on 1/19/17 surrounded by the love of his 3 children who sat with him in his last days. While his lungs declined, his mind, wit, love of coffee, good food, and the NY Times were still strong. Born in Brooklyn NY, on 5/11/1942, as the 3rd of 4 children to Frances and John McMahon, Dennis loved learning and excelled in school. He graduated with honors from St. John's Prep. As a student, he was a member of student council, school honor society, football, and track teams. An altar boy and Eagle Scout, he was a dedicated Catholic and led his class with a 95 % average. Upon graduation, he won several academic scholarships and decided to attend Notre Dame University. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan. After graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Dennis attended Columbia University to pursue a law degree. He was recruited by and worked for a law firm on Park Avenue before joining the Marine Corps. After completing his Marine Corps duty, he continued as a Judge Advocate General for the Navy. Upon retiring from the Navy, Dennis worked as a prosecuting attorney for King County. Dennis loved to hike, travel, read, and spread kindness. He was an active member of hiking and dinner clubs and loved to take photographs. In his retirement, traveling to other countries brought him great joy. He was a gentleman through and through. He is survived by Erin Subcleff(husband Ralph and children Jackson, Isaac, and Eliza), Colleen Masterjohn (husband Jeff and son Nate), and Dennis McMahon (wife Geneva and children Maddie and Tommy) His children would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Hospital for their tremendous support and care. A celebration of his life will be held at Lifetime Celebrations by Washelli located at 18224 103rd Ave NE, Bothell, WA 98011 on February 12th at 2:00 pm.
